The Babe’s Family
Have you ever told your family what you’d do different if you opened a restaurant? Grandma’s recipes, friendly people. Well, that’s exactly why we opened Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. We wanted a sit-down restaurant where people really feel at home. Babe’s is a casual place where you’ll feel comfortable in your blue jeans or cutoffs. Where your neighbors wait on you and your whole family.
We put our money in our food, not in a freeway location or fancy decor. Since we don’t advertise a lot, we kind of depend on our customers to get the word out. So bring the kids and bring Aunt Hazel, but leave that dog at home!
Now here’s some history and facts about us:
In 1981 Paul and Mary Beth Vinyard opened their first Country Cooking restaurant and named it Bubba’s, after Paul’s nickname. It’s located in Dallas, on Hillcrest near S.M.U. and is in a 1927 Texaco service station converted to an Art Deco styled restaurant. While much of the food is similar to Babe’s, it has walk-up counter service and a drive-thru window.
On April 22, 1993 they opened their second restaurant and named it Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, located in a 1908 warehouse in Roanoke, Texas. “Babe” was Mary Beth’s nick name; she developed the recipes so we named the restaurant Babe’s. While we are all saddened by the loss of “Babe” in 2008, we are very proud of the legacy she created.
Over the years we have developed a broader menu for Babe’s, which we serve at the other locations in Garland, Sanger, Carrollton, Burleson, Granbury, Frisco, Cedar Hill and Arlington. The menu includes a non-fried item: hickory smoked chicken. Also, our fried catfish is served with green tomato relish that’s canned especially for us – some people call it green tomato chow-chow.
The Vinyard family’s other restaurant is Sweetie Pie’s Ribeyes located on the square in Decatur, Texas. Whenever Paul was in trouble with Mary Beth, he’d call her “Sweetie Pie,” so it only seemed appropriate. It features rib eye steaks, but you’ll also find a filet mignon, chicken fried rib eye (a Vinyard family favorite), fried catfish, hamburgers and more.
Hopefully, you find our food better than typical restaurants. The difference comes by buying the highest quality meats, vegetables and other ingredients, and preparing them as you would at home. To keep everything as fresh as possible we prepare small amounts of each recipe over and over, so the last customer has a meal just as good as the first customer.

25 years ago, two energetic guys, Larry Marshall and Mike Patranella, rolled up their sleeves, worked long hours and created a restaurant like no other.
The idea behind that first Cotton Patch Cafe in Nacogdoches was to create a community restaurant that offered great food made from scratch, served by caring folks who are part of your community.
As the Cotton Patch Cafe reputation grew, more restaurants opened. Each fostered pride in its community. That became part of the Cotton Patch Cafe culture. Cotton Patch Cafe donates to hundreds of wonderful charities and causes every year. That recipe works. Today Cotton Patch has 45 locations (and growing) in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
“Our culture is to give,” says Kathy Nelson, CEO of Cotton Patch Café. “Cotton Patch isn’t only about food. We want to help people live better lives.”
The founders of the Dairy Queen® system were men and women who introduced a new kind of dessert treat and, in the process, developed the foundation of the franchising industry. The history of the DQ® system is a story of a unique product that created an industry.
A Story of Sweet Success
For more than 70 years, the DQ® system’s recipe for success has been simple. It’s been a combination of hardworking people who own and operate restaurants, and great-tasting food and tempting treats served in our establishments.
Our phenomenal story began with the 10-cent sale of a then unnamed product on August 4, 1938, in Kankakee, Illinois. A father and son partnership in Green River, Illinois, had been experimenting with a soft frozen dairy product for some time. They contacted Sherb Noble, a good friend and customer, who agreed to run the “all you can eat” trial sale at his walk-in ice cream store. Within two hours, he dished out more than 1,600 servings of the new dessert.
Back then, food franchising was all but unheard of, but the new product’s potential made it a natural for such a system. When the United States entered World War II in December 1941, there were fewer than 10 Dairy Queen® stores. However, shortly after the war, the system took off at a pace virtually unrivaled before or since. With only 100 stores in 1947, it grew to 1,446 in 1950 and then to 2,600 in 1955. Today, the DQ® system is one of the largest fast food systems in the world, with more than 6,000 restaurants in the United States, Canada and 18 other countries.
Although much has changed in the world and in the DQ® system through the years, one constant has remained: DQ® restaurants are still, and always have been, the place to find kids’ sports teams celebrating a victory, business people on their lunch break and families taking time out to enjoy great food and soft serve treats. And success for the DQ® system is as simple today as it was in 1940. Satisfied customers lead to successful restaurants. Each owner of our independently owned and operated establishments worldwide is committed to nothing less than the “Fan Food not Fast FoodTM” slogan.
El Fenix was founded in 1918 by Mike Martinez, a Mexican immigrant who opened a small restaurant on the corner of Griffin Street and McKinney Avenue in Dallas. Often, at its main location in downtown Dallas, the lunchtime line of patrons spills out the front door and down Alamo Street. El Fenix is renowned as the originator of “Tex-Mex cuisine” and the restaurant’s Wednesday “Enchilada Dinner Special,” which features two cheese enchiladas, refried beans, and rice. Acquired by Firebird Restaurant Group in 2008, El Fenix was refurbished with freshened interiors and a revamped menu, while maintaining its signature core menu and products. In 2010 Nation’s Restaurant News named El Fenix one of its 50 All-American Icons, “restaurants that stole our hearts and stood the test of time.”
Growing up in a family that is both entrepreneurial and built on decades of fire and police service, it seems we were destined to start Firehouse Subs®. Of course we tried other things along the way to our American Dream – rock ’n’ roll, real estate, and even Christmas tree farming. But everything we experienced on our path led us to Firehouse Subs.
At Fresco’s we focus on quality of ingredients and unmistakeable flavors. We do our all to provide a unique experience at a reasonable price. Our speciality is great Mexican food and really good margaritas, mojitos and cold beer. Fresco’s offers casual dining with a variety of tastes, perfect for the gathering of generations at one table.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, started on Berry Street in Fort Worth, Texas, was bought in 2003 by father and son restaurateurs Alan and Chuck Bush. After revamping the original store and crafting the perfect combination of tacos, drinks and success, they set out to share it with everyone.
Laced with feta and Fuzzy’s sauce, the baja style tacos quickly led to unstoppable addictions and cult-like fans. And as some of those fans moved away to Fuzzy’s-less towns, they began suffering serious withdrawals. They demanded more locations, and Fuzzy’s obliged. Spreading throughout 10 states with 78 stores and many more to come, Fuzzy’s is taking over stomachs and states alike.
It’s no wonder. Critics have described Fuzzy’s food as “a thing of great beauty,” and “truly amazing,” while even calling the franchise itself a “phenomenon.”
A phenomenon? That’s a pretty big word. And we’ll happily take it. And no matter how far and wide this tasty little phenomenon spreads, every location will always keep the Fuzzy’s promise in mind: To focus full attention on promptly and efficiently providing guests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price, in a fun atmosphere.

It happened over 30 years ago – The Original Golden Tender™ was born. We started using the whole chicken tenderloin (the filet mignon of chicken) to make our Original Golden Tenders™. To guarantee great, fresh taste, we marinate our tenderloins, hand-batter and cook them to a delicious golden perfection. Since 1985 the Big Guys have tried to copy us…and they’re still trying to get it right.
The Original Golden Tender.™ Once you Taste the Best…You’ll Forget the Rest!
We were born at a very early age… About ten years ago I wanted to leave my corporate gig and open a burger joint. After the laughter stopped, I convinced my friends and family that it really could work. I knew that I liked to go out and eat at places where I felt like the employees knew my name and appreciated my business. My favorite places are fun, clean, have a casual atmosphere that are service oriented and priced reasonably. Places where friends and family can gather and enjoy themselves without feeling rushed.
