About the Luncheon:
The Character Council coordinates an annual essay contest among the schools in Burleson, including public, private, and home schools with divisions of 3rd – 12th grades.
The culminating activity is the Burleson Character Luncheon attended by the contest winners, their parents and a representative from each school, usually the principal.
The Citizen of the Year from each school for the previous year is recognized at the luncheon and the Byron Black Character Award is presented to a citizen in the community who has exemplified good character.
In addition, the Character Council presents an award to a special needs student who has demonstrated outstanding character.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, this event is free to attend for the student winners and their families. Community members are encouraged to donate a minimum of $5 for the lunch. Registration for this event is required to ensure event organizers are properly prepared.
The Character Council is sponsored by several organizations who have joined together to promote and recognize outstanding character in Burleson. Those entities include: The Burleson (ISD) Independent School District, City of Burleson, Burleson Ministerial Alliance, and Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce.
