Adult Education serves a critical role in the development of a well-educated and highly skilled workforce.
It prepares adults for further academic instruction or skills training that leads to employment and self-sufficiency.
Our program provides adult learners with quality programs and services to help them acquire and develop literacy skills leading to a high school equivalency certificate needed to enter college or obtaining sustainable employment, so that they reach their full potential as family members, productive workers, and responsible citizens.
We serve thousands of residents in our service delivery areas (Denton, Collin, Johnson, Erath, Hood and Somervell counties) through academic instruction and skills training to improve their station in life.
United Way of Johnson County is a local network of volunteers, agencies and donors united in the belief that we can make a real difference as problem solvers in Johnson County, addressing issues ranging from critical needs to quality of life.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are volunteers trained to be advocates for children who have been abused and neglected and are under the protection of the court. They are appointed by the judge to meet regularly with the child, review records, and talk to family members and professionals involved in the child’s case. They report information to the judge, make recommendations to promote the child’s best interests, and monitor compliance with the court’s orders until the child has been placed in a safe, permanent home. But there are more children in need than we have the volunteer or financial capacity to handle. We need more resources, but your help can make an important difference. The number of children in CPS care continues to increase and CASA needs your help. We need people in the community to become advocates for these children.

After serving 8 years in the Marines, JD started painting in an apprentice program that lasted for 1 year. During this time he spent countless hours before and after his work days studying painting materials and substrates to learn proper preparation and application techniques. Painting small jobs on the weekends he honed his skills to the point that at the end of his apprenticeship he was able to start his own business. Thus was born Christensen Home Restoration. Established in 1983 his business grew and as it did became a family ran business when his sons Justin and Don came to work for the company. Don now runs his own successful business in Hawaii. Justin remains a key component in operations and customer service. JD and his wife Terri reside in Cleburne TX. ** A personal note from JD – Terri and I have always enjoyed working with home owners and have made many friends of repeat customers who have been kind enough to refer us to their friends and family. We look forward to meeting you and helping you with your home.

Professional Baseball in Cleburne Texas dates back more than 100 years. The Hallmark was achieved in 1906 when the Cleburne Railroaders defeated the Texas League perennial Champs, Fort Worth Cats to become 1906 Texas League Champions. That 1906 Championship Team featured TrisSpeaker, a Cleburne Native, who the very next season, went on to a great career and become one of Major League Baseballs greatest players ever. The last season for Speaker in Cleburne also marked the last season for the Railroaders, having never gained an opportunity to defend their Glorious Championship Season.
What’s in store?
Professional Baseball is poised to make a return in Cleburne. With the return, comes exciting affordable Family Entertainment and a chance to defend the Title 110 years later and go full steam ahead in hopes of capturing Championships for years to come.
