Our mission is to assist women in realizing their full leadership potential, to participate in the community by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others, and to serve ethically; with dignity, grace and sensitivity.
To meet our mission, the ATHENAs actively seek ways to assist women and provide services for families dealing with cancer. Since 2007, the ATHENA Society of Burleson has made an annual donation to the New Journey Christian Women’s Job Corps, whose purpose is to equip women in need with the life skills and jobs skills needed so they can provide for themselves and their families.
Some of the ATHENAs have assisted the program by sharing work place knowledge on various topics, and by providing internships where women in the program can practice their newly learned skills.
In addition to this program, The ATHENA Society of Burleson awards a scholarship to the graduating female senior at our local high schools with the most community service hours and have made a donations to the Burleson Opportunity Fund that provides scholarships for students at our local junior college. These activities align with our mission of assisting women to realize their leadership and educational potential.
