The Greater Johnson County Transportation Coalition (GJCTC) will host its next General Meeting on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 W. Henderson, Cleburne, Texas. The meeting will feature a legislative update by Senator Brian Birdwell and Representative DeWayne Burns as well as reports from local transportation agencies.
Formed in early 2013, the Greater Johnson County Transportation Coalition mission is to plan and advocate for improved transportation in the greater Johnson County area. Founding entities of the Coalition include the cities of Burleson, Cleburne, Crowley and Joshua as well as Johnson County. In addition to assisting the public to understand transportation decisions and policies, the GJCTC is striving to assist in the development of a continuing, comprehensive, multi-modal transportation planning process carried on cooperatively with state and local agencies.
According to Joe Hollarn, GJCTC Chair and Mayor of Joshua, General Meetings are open to the public and part of an on-going effort to bring together legislators, local elected officials, transportation partners, business leaders, and residents to discuss transportation needs and plans in Johnson County. Each general meeting features guest speakers addressing the “state of transportation” in Johnson County as well as an opportunity for networking on local transportation initiatives.
“As North Texas and Johnson County continue to grow, it is critical that we work together to develop sustainable transportation infrastructure. The general meetings serve as a building block toward developing a cohesive transportation system that will not only improve the economic vitality of our communities but also the quality of life of our residents,” Hollarn stated.
